The East Frisian Island Norderney

Norderney is the second largest island of the East Frisian Islands. The easiest way to get to Norderney is by ferry from Norddeich Mole but it is also possible to book a flight from Norddeich airport.

Although it is possible to take your car to Norderney we suggest exploring the island on foot or by bike. If you are looking for something more exciting, we suggest a Segway-Tour. Segways can be rented on the island. A guide will lead you and tell you everything you need to know.

Norderney has a beautiful lighthouse that can be visited. You can get there by bike in 30 minutes starting in the city. Another possibility is going by bus. Once you have reached the top of the 54-meter high lighthouse, you will have an incredible view.

After an exciting day exploring the island, the “bade:haus” is waiting for your visit. You can go for a swim, relax in the pools or try one out of many spa treatments. Norderney is famous for its Thalasso-treatments. Please remember to book those treatments in advance. Another way to experience Thalasso are the three Thalasso platforms on Norderney from where you can overview the island and the coast.

For a relaxed day, visit the famous library of Norderney. Besides books and magazines, it also offers audio books and DVDs. You have the possibility to make a reservation in advance for a special medium if you want to make sure that it will be free for you during your vacation.

The visitor’s center “Watt Welten Norderney” invites you to an interactive tour, where you will learn interesting things about the wadden sea. The center is near by the harbor, so you can visit it at the end of your vacation.
