Juist is one out of four East Frisian Islands that is car-free. This means you can explore the island by bike, foot or a horse-drawn carriage. The most comfortable way is probably to explore the island by bike. There are many bike rentals on the island.
The first stop of your tour around Juist is the national park house. Here you can find a lot of information about the Wadden Sea and the national park. Continuing your tour to the west side of the island, you will find the Hammersee. This lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes that is set on an island.
If you want to take a break, you can rest at the Domäne Bill. This is a former farmhouse where you can enjoy several traditional delicious foods and drinks. You should try the famous “Stuten”, a white bread with raisins. On your way back to the harbor you can turn to the righthand side with your bike onto the Otto-Leege-Pfad (Otto-Leege-Path), a beautiful naturure trail.
